THERAPIST BIO
Crystal Brown, MA, LAC
FOUNDER OF NON PROFIT
I have dedicated myself to supporting teenagers, adults, and families in the field of social services, and behavioral health. Throughout my career, I have also had the privilege of working as a special education teacher and vocational counselor, where I focused on assisting individuals with a wide range of physical and mental health disabilities and diagnoses. It has been a rewarding experience to contribute to the well-being and empowerment of those I have had the opportunity to serve. My years working as a child forensic interviewer, and in the social service field, along with my recent education, I have gained valuable training and education to work with those who have experienced significant trauma and significant mental health concerns.
Having personally experienced childhood and adolescent trauma, I possess a unique perspective and understanding of its impact on the brain, emotional regulation, relationships, attachment, and overall well-being. I want you to know there is HOPE! Through tailored treatment approaches, I firmly believe that healing is not only possible but attainable.
Life can be tough, and it's not meant to be faced alone. I'm here to help and support individuals of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults. I have experience working with people who deal with anxiety, depression, trauma, career concerns, disabilities, chronic illnesses, family issues, and exposure to domestic violence or partner abuse. I use proven methods to help individuals heal, overcome challenges, and find solutions to the problems they face in life.
As a counselor, my primary role is to lend an empathetic ear and engage in conversations that assist you in addressing behaviors and emotions that may hinder your daily functioning, social interactions, and overall ability to cope with life's challenges. Whether you're dealing with day-to-day struggles or facing larger obstacles, I am here to offer guidance and support to help you navigate through them successfully.
I strive to deliver compassionate care and establish an inclusive space where individuals from various backgrounds are embraced and their identities and experiences respected. With experience working with individuals aged 11 and above, I am committed to providing high-quality care and support. Operating under supervision ensures that clients receive the best possible treatment. Together, we can navigate the unique aspects of each person's journey, fostering growth and well-being.
A little About Me: I am married and I have 2 young adult girls and a teenage boy still living at home. I have 8 years of experience as a therapeutic foster parent working with teenagers on parole and probation, teaching independent living, and vocational skills while learning coping strategies to manage triggers and regulate emotions.
Raising children and teenagers can be challenging, but worth it. I am certified in providing Triple P parenting groups and I love every minute of watching parents and caregivers learn and grow.
My Interests: Spending precious moments with my family is at the core of my values. When it comes to having fun, I find joy in going on bike rides, exploring the neighborhood with my dogs by my side, and treating ourselves to movie nights.
I can’t wait to work with you and help you start your journey toward healing!
